Sarah and Julia, two experienced and devoted instructors, take you on a powerful, transformative journey in one of the worlds most intriguing places. The training will be held at the exquisite Samata Holistic Retreat Center near Arambol, Goa in the south of India. Amazing people, beautiful beaches, premium organic food (all grown on site), quiet environment, refined accommodations, beautiful yoga studios and easy access to the lush jungle.

Working with a strong intuition, Sarah and Julia offers a vast knowledge on Traditional Chinese Medicine, Anusara based alignment approaches, conscious anatomy and embodied experience. They both have many years teaching experience including facilitation of workshops, retreats & Yoga Teacher Trainings.

Sarah Zandbeek

Sarah has taught yoga for 6 years and is well studied in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture; She teaches and lives for the Art of Healing. A poet and philosopher at heart Sarah is often buried deep in a book with a cup of something steamy; her loves are Alan Watts, Rilke, Hafiz, Rumi, Marianne Williamson, and David Whyte. Though known for being a bit sassy, super geeky, a dancer, a laugher, and a lover of music, Sarah spends a lot of time in silent solitude harnessing the capacity for a deeper intimacy with life. Having a chameleon and sponge-like quality she can fit into any scene and pull information from all sources, combining them together into mystical love, anatomical, physiological, and energetic magic. Her yoga classes hold a steady energetic pulse, while shifting the rhythms of the physical body to begin peeling the mind open to the understanding that we choose how we feel and experience each moment. Sarah’s intention is always to aid in the healing process and her understanding of the energetic body creates a space for deep release and a return home to the vibration of Truth.

Sarah states, “In one sentence, it is all about cracking the mind open with the body simultaneously; one does not open without the other.”

Julia McCabe

I’d like to begin by thanking all of my teachers and friends who got me here in the first place. First and foremost: Patrick Creelman, Paul Dallaghan, Kristin Campbell and the teachers of Pure Yoga Hong Kong who I taught with (2005-2008) Ana Forrest and all my students since 2003. I’d also like to thank my inspiring professors during my time studying Kinesiology at McGill University. My degree actually came into good use! Growing up, I also learned the art of pedagogy by watching my schoolteacher parents and later my big sister. They’d come home slugging grocery baskets full of text books, eyes burning over late night report cards and sometimes heartbroken over kids who showed up with the same clothes and no lunch every day. My first teachers, my parents, they are my gurus.

To be straight up, yoga found me, I didn’t necessarily find it. I made fun of my first yoga teacher and through my teen years found most of what yoga professed…to be a load of bull. True story. I had NO clue what I was stepping into. Since 2000, after meeting my first true teacher, it has been a natural evolution, a slow simmer of a magnificent journey.

I traveled the globe teaching trainings and retreats since 2010 in Nicaragua. It has been quite a journey between hard work. sweat, tears, doubt, acceleration and loving connections: from the Daintree Rainforest to the windy mountaintops of Spain. I know I’m a teacher because everything keeps aligning me back to this role even when I think I’ve failed. It is a “job” that arrived quietly at first – like an unexpected new love, I was nudged along, shy and steady to stand at the head of the class. I eventually came into my louder voice that turned out to be a true one for me. It is my wish for all those who study with me to feel the same: to feel whole and to feel heard.

This training is yes, about Yoga: the basic structures to each of the poses and how these poses inform your body about your body, mind and spirit, but it is also about You as an individual human and how your life is important and has an affect on all that is around you. We as humans have the opportunity to change and inform that which is in front of us and inspire all that is around us. This act does not begin from fixing the outside, it begins with being a student of life and all the experiences life offers. Having courage to seek the lesson and unraveling that these experiences offer and how each hardship and joy brings you closer to your individual truth. The words we speak impact our future, the foods we eat impact our health, the way in which we move on our yoga mats and upon the planet affects the whole.
