Eastern Elements – Thai Massage, Buddhist Meditation & Yin Yoga Retreat

with

Dr Brendt Reynolds & David Leach

Dec 9 -15, 2019

Samata Holistic Retreat Center, North Goa, India

Come and spend some time with us at Samata. Relax amidst the coconut palms and
sample our delicious vegetarian cuisine direct from our own organic gardens. So
often life asks us to do more and rest less. Pushing us toward depletion by
overexerting Yang aspects of life. During this retreat we invite you to shift more
deeply into restore and rejuvenate mode. Opening and receiving Yin aspects of life.
Over the eight days of this training you not only learn how to give a 1 hour Thai yoga
massage but also will have the chance to deepen and expand your yin yoga and
meditation practices creating the perfect terrain for the mindfulness and full presence
required to give massage. Throughout the retreat we will work together toward
creating a mindful and meditative space.

The Retreat
Throughout the retreat you’ll learn how to give a 60-minute full body Thai Yoga
Massage which will include:
 Sen line work (the flow of energy through the body according to the Thai
Buddhist system)
 acupressure points
 deep yoga style stretches
 working with the breath for a deeper therapeutic experience
 a day of silent practice that will enable you to deepen your intuitive, innate
healing abilities

Over your time with us we’ll be working steadily toward bringing the group to a state
of mindful rest culminating in a day of silence.
From the yin yoga and meditation practices that you’ll establish here with us, you’ll
take home a self-practice of:
 Yin yoga postures
 Breath work techniques
 Buddhist mindfulness practices
 Walking meditation practice

Brendt’s passion for yoga and meditation was ignited in
his early twenties during extensive travels in India. He
came to learn of yoga and meditation through readings in
eastern philosophy and history. These early interests
naturally segued into a deeper and more devoted focus
for formal study in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)
and yoga therapeutics. He began his Buddhist path while
living in Dharmasala in the late 1990’s and has been a
student of Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche since 2012.
Brendt’s practice of TCM, Buddhism, and yoga has lead
him inexorably toward teaching and sharing these rich
Eastern traditions.

David has lived in Asia for the past 25 years. During
this time he has had the privilege of studying massage
and healing techniques from indigenous teachers
across South East Asia. Whilst in India, he established
two massage education centres which he ran for over
a decade. His time working in Asia has afforded him
deep insights into the therapies that are such an
integral part of life and wellbeing in the East. He has
also maintained a daily yoga and meditation practice
throughout this period.
